Why Demonoid Code givers are careful and need guarantees

,

We've seen a lot of people all over the net asking for free Demonoid invitation codes, if not begging for it. It becomes annoying to some people who try to share their codes because some of these people come to you, beg for codes, sometimes get mad at you for not giving them codes, or any other abusive things just because they are not given any free invitation code. We've seen some bloggers who even close their comments option because they get annoyed at beggars. (Truthfully, it could get really annoying at some point).

What they seem to have forgotten is that none of these people who offer codes actually have the responsibility to give them codes. What Demonoid suggests is to ask your friends around if they are members and they could give you codes, but Demonoid has never suggested to beg around from other people who can even be complete strangers - and worse, harass them to give you one.

People who are not yet members of Demonoid (who greatly wish to be) should understand that any member of Demonoid who invites another person takes responsibility for that user. Here's an important note (screenshot):
It clearly states the possibility of being warned or banned if the user you invited abused Demonoid's services or violates the Terms of Service. And if you analyze it, the more invitations a person shares, the higher the responsibility and the risk his account takes. This is something many non-Demonoid users may not know and understand, hence they think it's okay to harass people who don't give them codes.

Remember that none of these Demonoid members have the responsibility to give you invitations most especially when to them, you are simply complete strangers; and neither do you have any right to harass them or abuse the privilege they offer you.

This is mainly the reason why many Demonoid users are hesitant to share invitation codes or need to get to know more about the person they are giving their codes to. It is understandable why many members would not share their invitations to strangers (and this is highly recommended in any situation), but there are just cases when you don't really have anyone to invite but still want to share. But, of course, they usually want to know that they can trust these people, or at least have some guarantees that their invitation won't be abused.

Most people who complain about invitations, or ask for more than what can be given, or even harass people for invitations are the very ones that would most probably be capable of violating and/or abusing the Terms of Demonoid. This is not meant to be a generalized statement, but logically, if you are willing to earn someone's trust or guarantee them that you can be trusted (especially because you are just a stranger to them), why in the first place would you harass them just over an invitation code? That does not make sense.

Members who are willing to invite you to Demonoid would usually just have a simple term: keep your account in good standing. This means not abusing the service and abiding to the site policy. Some members may ask you to keep a good ratio - this is for the purpose of maintaining the seeders. But since there are also instances when ratio is not reported correctly, the important thing is that you are able to give back to the community.

So what's the best way to get an invitation code? If you really need an invitation code for Demonoid, it would be wise to ask your friends first. If none of your friends are members of Demonoid, then you can search for people who are willing to give you an invitation code but remember that you need to be patient and polite about it. People do not appreciate it when you are the one asking yet you're the one who have the guts to be impolite. And always make sure you abide by Demonoid's policies and terms. (Do not try taking out cash to buy codes, it is prohibited and accounts can get banned).
