The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act has been gaining critics online. It aims to blacklist any website that seems to infringe copyright without going through a legal process as opposed to how it is done now. No court procedures, or any investigative procedures will be required; as long as the authority finds it to violate copyright (in whatever laws governing), they can implement blacklist of these websites. In such case, any website that the authority wants removed on the net, or blacklisted will be blacklisted.

For this reason, many websites condemn this as there still has been a debate on what encompasses copyrights and illegal sharing (when you legally own the material, among others).
